- Novels by and about Southern women have become increasingly popular, as evidenced by the success of the national bestseller, Peace Like a River (Grove/Atlantic, 2001), and the New York Times bestsellers The Last Girls (Algonquin, 2002) and Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (HarperCollins, 1996).
- Joshilyn Jackson, a native of the Deep South, has had her writing published in literary magazines including TriQuarterly and Calyx, as well as in the anthology ChickLit II.
